Diagnose

Most medical conditions are connected to different patterns of the brain. Brain activity can be measured and visualized with an EEG. Specific conditions, such as depression, ADD/ADHD and epilepsy can be diagnosed with this technology. Certain symptoms, such as lack of sleep and concentration can then be treated. Even the slightest tendencies for these health problems can be identified with an EEG.

With our special technology, a qEEG (quantitative EEG) or Brainmapping is created and analysed. It shows the current status of the patient’s brain. Various health problems are made apparent with this tool and an individual protocol for the Neurofeedback session will be developed. Neurofeedback is entirely pain-free and works without medication. The qEEG itself only takes a few minutes.

Consultation

In a personal conversation with our medical director Philipp Heiler, different Neurofeedback treatment options will be evaluated. Every question and concern will be handled in depth.

The training protocol is designed for the patient’s individual goals and needs. The treatment is based on this protocol. To ensure the highest quality service, Philipp Heiler constantly educates himself and takes part in research projects in the field of Neurofeedback. He even trains future Neurofeedback-therapists, to pass on his knowledge and extensive experience. We can rely on a specialized network of therapists, doctors and professors of the Technical University in Munich.

Treatment

Every Neurofeedback session is performed and supervised by Philipp Heiler. The treatment takes place in a comfortable and personal environment.

After the diagnosis and consultation, the treatment-phase begins. 1-2 sessions a week are recommended to ensure progress, which is important in the first stage of Neurofeedback. Consistent training is critical for the improvement of the medical conditions. For long-term positive effects it takes 10-30 Neurofeedback sessions, depending on individual conditions. The treatment itself is absolutely pain-free and without any use of medication or supplements. Many private health insurance companies have already started to take over the costs for Neurofeedback treatment

Treatable Medical Conditions

Several conditions can be effectively treated with Neurofeedback. It is perfectly suitable for both children and adults.

Depression

A depression often goes on undetected, even though already a slight case of this medical condition can have a major impact on a person’s well-being. It is often difficult to find the right approach when dealing with a depression. A medical treatment is a great first step. Additionally or even as the primary therapy Neurofeedback can help identify and treat this condition. Unconscious problems can be reconditioned, while mood and sleep is improved.

ADHD

For decades now neurofeedback is used to effectively treat ADHD. In a majority of cases the use of medication is reduced or even entirely removed. Improvements of the condition can often already be seen after a few sessions and these effects last a life-time. The patient learns to gain control over his mind and body again. The treatment is suitable for both young children and adults.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy is the first medical condition where neurofeedback has ever been tested. For 50 years now it is used to treat patients and the method is still constantly improved. Neurofeedback is an effective treatment to reduce or even completely cure the patient of epileptic seizures.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTBS)

Post-traumatic stress disorders occur through experiencing or witnessing a terrible situation. Accidents, tragedies or military missions are only a few events, where people react with this distinct stress disorder. Especially in combination with a talking or dreaming therapy, neurofeedback can offer great benefits for patients in opening up and overcoming these traumatic experiences.

Burn-Out

Neurofeedback can not only reduce your current stress-level, but can also be used as a means of prevention. Early stages of Burn-Out can already be identified und treated, along with your capacity to handle stressful situations in general.

Chronic stress

The quality of life can suffer dramatically, when someone is constantly exposed to stressful situations. With neurofeedback the effects of chronic stress can be treated. Furthermore, it can create an awareness for different levels of stress. This helps with identifying future stressful situations, so you can react and prevent yourself from engaging in those.

Nicotine-addiction Trying to quit smoking is a difficult and stressful task. In order to gain control of this addiction and change your behaviour, neurofeedback-training can work very well in combination with other methods.

Migraine

10-15% of the world’s population suffer from migraine. Existing medication can often only partially ease the pain. With a neurofeedback-training, specifically designed for patients with migraine, it is possible to reduce the number of migraine attacks or even entirely prevent them from happening.

Concussion

Even minor impacts during an accident or a sporting event can cause major effects on the functions of the brain. Often these dysfunctions occur later on in life, without the person even noticing it. Patients usually experience a lack of concentration, sleep or the ability to memorise things. With our modern qEEG-technology we can diagnose dysfunctions after a concussion and effectively treat them, in order to prevent these common symptoms.

Sleep disturbance/disorder Sleep is essential for your overall health and well-being. Neurofeedback helps in training your brain to switch quicker and more efficiently into a state of relaxation, which allows you to fall asleep easier. Furthermore, it can improve your overall sleep quality.
Dyslexia Dyslexia can cause major problems in the learning ability of young children in school. Even a lot of adults suffer from it, which results in restrictions and insecurities in daily activities. Neurofeedback helps those children and adults train their speech centre, in order to improve their ability to read and write.
Anxiety and panic attacks Anxiety and panic attacks usually occur after traumatic experiences, but can also come up without an obvious reason. It is furthermore difficult to exactly anticipate an attack. Neurofeedback can offer great help in these situations. It makes it possible to detect unconscious fears and concerns and effectively treat those. In many cases it allows the patient to gain access to those anxieties for the first time and create an awareness for them.

Neurofeedback as Therapy

Neurofeedback as stand alone therapy

Neurofeedback can be used as a stand alone therapy for a wide range of medical conditions, such as depression, ADD/ADHD or anxiety and stress disorders. In order to create a holistic experience, it is important for us to talk about the patients’ health and well-being before and after each training session. This includes certain elements of psycho- and behaviour therapy. With this approach we want to ensure the patient’s long-term progress and permanently improve his medical condition.

Neurofeedback as an additional therapy

Neurofeedback can offer great benefits when used in combination with other treatment methods, such as psychotherapy or the use of medication. To create the most optimal training strategy for the patient, we are open to discuss and exchange ideas with the other treating therapists and doctors. With the additional Neurofeedback training, the patient can notice, that his main therapy can work more effectively. In some cases Neurofeedback even allows to reduce the dose of medication or even better, completely replace it.

Benefits of Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback requires advanced EEG-Technology which is a well researched and proven method over decades to improve patient’s medical conditions.

60 Minutes per session
1 - 2 Sessions per week
From 10 sessions sustainable results
Individualized protocols

There are many reasons to start with Neurofeedback:

  • The therapy is suitable for children and adults
  • During the entire treatment process no medication is needed
  • Mental illnesses can be permanently mitigated
  • Self-awareness and body sensation are improved
  • Stress can be early detected and prevented
  • learn to self-regulate your own brain and the whole body
  • Training effects are permanent
  • learning enables a comfortable treatment process for children

Neurofeedback is perfectly suitable for people of all ages. Children at the age of 4 and upwards can be treated with Neurofeedback. The treatment works entirely without medication. In many cases, Neurofeedback has shown to drastically reduce the need for patients to take medication.

Neurofeedback against depression

In Germany approximately 4 million people suffer from depression. An additional 3 million show indications of this medical condition. Therefore Neurofeedback has been optimized to treat patients with depression. Neurofeedback programs have been designed to specifically improve the condition of certain areas of the brain, which can cause a depression. Patients responded well to these programs and symptoms of a depression were improved, especially when combined with psychotherapy. The Neurofeedback programs are able to cause a great effect on motivation, mood and the quality of sleep.

Neurofeedback also benefits patients, who suffer from other medical conditions, such as ADD, ADHD and epilepsy. Long-term improvements of the patient’s well-being can be accomplished here as well. In order to attain these improvements 1-2 sessions per week with a duration of 60 minutes are recommended. After 10 sessions the patient can already notice the benefits of a Neurofeedback treatment.

An expert in Neurofeedback training

The individual’s medical condition and the possible benefits of Neurofeedback training will be evaluated personally by Philipp Heiler. An information consultation is free of charge. In a second in-depth conversation specific data will be analyzed and a training plan will be developed.

Philipp Heiler is a medical doctor and a certified Neurofeedback-therapist. He has been treating children and adults, who are suffering from certain medical conditions, successfully with Neurofeedback. With his experience and extensive knowledge he offers his patients a high-quality service to ensure the best possible results. The goal of Neurofeedback is to train the brain to automatically adjust to a pleasant, but productive state. Furthermore, patients learn to consciously control certain brain activity, either by maintaining a pleasant state or reducing an unpleasant activity. The learning effects of Neurofeedback training are stable and can be maintained for the rest of the patient’s life.

To further improve the quality and the experience of Neurofeedback, Philipp Heiler founded “brainboost Neurofeedback” along with two sports scientists. The goal of “brainboost Neurofeedback” is to develop new and more effective training protocols to produce even better results for the patients. Brainboost will also hold seminars, lectures and conduct research studies for Munich’s top universities, the TU Munich and LMU.

Cooperation with brainboost Neurofeedback

Due to our close cooperation with the expert team of brainboost we continuously refine neurofeedback to provide the best training possible.
